These wives and husbands are making a name for themselves on social media — and occasionally getting into controversy.
They may not top the Billboard charts like their country superstar partners, but some Nashville wives and husbands have become celebrities in their own right as social media influencers — sometimes even drawing millions of followers.
Interspersed with adorable photos with their partners are often posts about product endorsements, beauty tips, cooking tips, business recommendations, childcare advice and — here’s where it sometimes gets tricky — politics.
On Thursday, Billboard reported that Jason Aldean’s longtime publicity agency, The Greenroom PR, has parted ways with their client of 17 years. While Greenroom’s statement to Billboard didn’t give a reason — other than to say the company’s focus is on music — the move came shortly after Aldean’s wife, Brittany, posted comments on her Instagram feed that included “I really want to say thank you when I was going through my tomboy phase. My parents for not changing gender,” after criticism of gender-affirming care. Although she later claimed that her comments were taken out of context (without explaining how), many people – including Maren Morris and Cassady Pope – called her comments transphobic.
Brittany Aldean capitalized on the controversy, launching a new clothing line with proceeds going to charity and appearing on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight on Thursday, positioning herself as a child advocate.
But not all these women (and men!) are debating on their Instagram feeds. Below are some of the country music wives and husbands with the most followers on social media sites and how they’re using their platforms.
